Remember remember the 5th of November
Hey Dad!
No, Sister Dean and I didn't ever hear from that man we met in the rain again. That seems to happen a lot that people will say they'll call us and then they either forget or they just say it so we can't have their numbers. I agree, it wasn't a coincident. I hope we can run into him again. I try to tell everyone different things so it'll make everyone talk to each other and see what news I didn't share with them. I guess the family hasn't caught on yet. Sorry :)
I like your testimony. That's the thought we share a lot with investigators and less actives. That in order to build our house on the foundation of Christ we must have the pillars of praying, reading, and going to church. I'm glad you had fun in San Francisco and that your speech went well. The way I actually learn all my cities is by studying the maps so I know what big roads intersect other roads. It also helps to study where our investigators and members live and the various ways we could possibly get there. We don't usually have time to get lost in a city but really that's the best way to do it.
This week we tausched and so I went to Langenhorn and then Elmshorn. It was fun to work with other missionaries and learn from them but it always teaches me how much more I love my companion and the city that I am serving in. We were able to commit Bruder XXXX to baptism last Tuesday. We had another great lesson with him on Saturday. We watched the restoration film and asked him about the spirit he felt and if he felt it. He said if he hadn't felt it then he wouldn't keep coming back! Ha! But as all new baptismal dates go, he got some freak health problem with his eye and is actually in an eye clinic in Bremen this week.
Last night sister Dean and I visited a man who lives in Nordholz, a small dorf in between Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven. We had a really neat conversation with him about how we can recognize Gods' hand in the nature and in how things work. We invited him to prayer, especially next time when he is out in nature ( he has a lot of hobbies that have to do with outdoors) and he said he'd definitely think about it. Then this morning he called us to thank us for our visit and said as he goes hunting this weekend he will think about prayer and what we said. Super cool! We are looking forward to make out a new appointment with him and see if we can help him grow his faith.
Thanks for keeping me in your prayers. I pray for you too! I love you bunches and hope you have a great week!

The ones with me in sweats are from Morgen Sport where we went for a run though a park. I was being like the bird statue when I was bending down stretching.
Daylight Savings Time is Amazing!
Hey Lyndel,
Thanks for the recipe! I'm sorry you missed me so much this last week. I did ache at the beginning to be away from family but the more time that passes the more excited I am so see family again. I love being on a mission and a little nervous to face reality or the real world again but I miss the family. Right now its not so bad and I'm hoping it can stay that way for Christmas. We will see.
Michael's birthday card should arrive today. I had to pay like €3 to get it there cause it was a square and not a rectangle. They are just so prejudice. Nori Nori sounds lovely! I hope you all have a fun time and that Michael enjoys celebrating his birthday. Did you get him a present?
Teaching is going really well. This last week we had a lot of investigators that decided to drop their appointments randomly or show up when we weren't here at the church and that's annoying. But for the most part everyone is doing well. We are trying to help everyone where their weaknesses are and help them understand the gospel and the truths that are found in it. We didn't get any new investigators this week but hopefully next.
I'm reading in the new testament right now and I was blown away by something Paul said. Its in 1 Corinthians 15:8-10. I really love verse 10 ''But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not i, but the grace of God which was with me.'' The spirit just hit me so strong this week when I read this. Paul doesn't mean that it doesn't matter he is who he is but he means he is who he is BECAUSE of Christs Atonement and it was the Atonement that helped him labor more abundantly. I also loved that he said that the grace which was bestowed on him was not in vain. That's something I try to focus on a lot. Do I let Christs atonement be offered in vain or do I use it everyday? It amazes me that Christ loves us so much that he died and was resurrected for us. I love reading the scriptures and finding the bits that I need to help me throughout my day.
Do you guys have any fun plans for this week? I hope you all have a great time tonight and remember that I love and miss you! Oh here are some pictures!

Happy Halloween from Dad
Hey Dad,
Thanks for all the pictures. Its good to see that you all are having fun still. I think you and mums costume was crazy. I love that David Alder was David. Hahaha! Glad your calf is getting better. Have you gone to the doctors about it? Have fun in San Fransisco representing the CDC!
Well this week Sister Dean and I saw a lot of success. It was a very busy week filled with lots of talking to people and teaching. Wednesday night our district leader texted our district to say we had one hour to complete the amazing race. We had to talk to 5 people on a bike, a person by a grocery store, döner laden, bustop, and bahnhof, 20 people door to door and four people on the phone and there was a point system for how far we got in the conversations with everyone and if we got appointments out of it. Well when Sister Dean and I got the text we had exactly one hour before we needed to be home and it was raining so it didn't seem like we would do too well but we did our best. When our district leader called in he tallied up all the work Sister Dean and I did and we actually managed to win the race. We gave out three Book of Mormons and got to talk to a lot of people about the church and share our testimonies. Our district leader was amazed and said the Elders in another city were arguing with the other elders in their apartment about who won and said they'd all be upset to know that we did. Sister Dean says the Elders have an inferiority complex about the Sisters.
Another night this week we had about an hour and a half left in the day. It was cold and rainy outside and we didn't want to go but we saw a bus was coming in 5 minutes so we threw on our coats and out the door we went. When we got to Hafen straße we contacted the first man we saw on the street. He told us all about his family history and how some of his relatives lived or died in concentration camps. He told us his belief in Christ and we shared with him about the Book of Mormon. Then his bus came and he had to go. The next day we were getting on the bus in a different location and the man we saw the night before was getting off. He recognized us and told us that he read in the Book of Mormon and LOVED it and would call us because he wanted to talk more about it. It just really showed Sister Dean and I how important it is to be where we're supposed to be. Had we not contacted that man he would have just been another person we saw getting off the bus the next day.
I don't need money any time soon. It just makes it difficult to visit museums or buy Christmas gifts for everyone. Hopefully my card will come soon. Thanks for all the love and support you send dad! I hope you have a great week! Love you!

All your birthday wishes
Lyndel,
Haha, That's funny to see what all the people who wrote on my facebook wall. Thanks for sending that to me. Mostly my work friends from LSU and then people I've known forever. That's really nice to see how much love there is out there. How are you doing this week? I love that Eli jumped into your photo. You and Michael are some pretty cute boy scouts if you ask me! Do you have anything fun planned for Michael's birthday next week? I hope so! I wrote him a birthday card and will put it in the mail today so I hope he enjoys all the crazy mission stories. They're all the ones that probably aren't appropriate to put on the blog but things he would enjoy reading about. Some things that happen on the mission just stay on the mission...or they just get written in the journals so you can talk about it when you get home. Haha! Well, this week was way crazy and fun. Sister Dean and I have been having a lot of opportunities of talking to people about the gospel and giving people the Book of Mormon. There is so much power that comes from reading the Book of Mormon.
What are the thanksgiving plans this year? Our district is thinking of doing a district thanksgiving feast on the last p-day of the transfer. Do you think you could send me mums squash casserole recipe? I found a store that sells Ritz crackers! So it's totally possible to do! An older member, 92 year old lady, made Sister Dean and I steak, brussel sprouts, and klöse for dinner on Friday. It's like the closest thing to steak, green beans, and mashed potatoes you can ever get in Germany. It was so delicious! Mmm....And she cooked it all herself. She is pretty fabulous. This week we are tausching and I will be headed to Langenhorn. I'm not exactly sure where that is. Near Hamburg I think? Anyways, it should be a good learning experience.
I love you Lyndel, Have a great week and remember to take some time to have fun!
